History made of legends achieving incredible victories

Corpus Christi’s native son Maj. Warren G.H. Crecy’s infamous acts of heroism during WWII is included in the fabric of American history.
Named after the country’s 29th’ President, Warren G. Harding, he was often referred to as “Black Captain America” or “Black Panther” by his peers.
Crecy’s audaciousness rivals the likes of Audie Murphy, another decorated Texan Soldier from the same era, whose acts have been depicted in Hollywood.
His bravery has been documented in numerous books and countless documentaries featuring the 761st Tank Battalion which coincidentally, is the same battalion that famed baseball player Jackie Robinson served as an officer.
This Corpus Christi hero’s tenacity for minimizing the enemy was fueled by comradery he felt for his battalion members who had fallen at the hands of the Nazis.
Crecy was nominated for a Medal of Honor, but was awarded the Silver Star, four Purple Hearts, and a Bronze Star.
The decision to desegregate the Army was heavily influenced by celebrated acts of courage and valor from men such as Crecy and the 761st Battalion. Crecy now rests in Ar
