LIBRARY DEDICATION

On Wednesday. July 16, at 1400, the new Station Library was opened to the public for its first half day of actual operation. Miss Emma Sue Goree, Librarian, tastefully decorated the building with flowers. Miss Goree states that are 5,000 books ready for circulation and that more shipments are coming.

The first half day saw a circulation of 118 books and 66 cards issued. The second day, 114 books were borrowed and 92 cards issued to Station personnel and their families. Approximately two-thirds of the books drawn were fiction, and already many books are on a reserved list. “Out of the Night” has been requested six times.

Magazine files are being started and copies of “Readers’ Guide” being made available. To the right of the entrance is found a “give away” table on which may be found gift magazines. Men may take with them any reading material found on this table.

The Library staff encourages reference questions in person or by telephone. The number is 681. The building will be open from 0900 until 2100 every week day, from 1100 until 2100 on Saturdays, and from 1400 until 2100 on Sundays. There are nine enlisted men on duty in the
