NASCC Change of Command ceremony to be held July 31

Command of Naval Air Station Corpus Christi will change hands Wednesday, July 31, at 10 a.m., when Capt. Phil Brock turns over the helm to Capt. Chris Jason, during a change of command and retirement ceremony at the air station’s Catalina Club.

Rear Adm. Gary Mayes, commander, Navy Region Southeast, will be the presiding official and guest speaker.

Jason reports to Naval Air Station Corpus Christi from Hawaii where he served as the Deputy Director for Plans and Policy (N5B) at the headquarters of Commander, U.S. Pacific Fleet.

Born abroad and raised in Sarasota, Florida, Jason graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1997 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics. He was designated a Naval Flight Officer in September 1998.

Brock is closing out his 25-year U.S. Navy career.

A native of Ellington, Connecticut, Brock graduated from Norwich University in Northfield, Vermont, in May 1994 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering and was commissioned an Ensign in the U.S. Navy. Brock completed multi-engine training with VT-31 at NAS Corpus Christi and received his Naval Aviator Wings of Gold in July 1998. He assumed the command of NAS Corpus Christi in July 2017.
