GOLF TOURNAMENT

Gulf Winds Golf Course will be hosting a GWGC US Open and Watch party on June 16.

Each player will play their own ball throughout the entire golf course and will receive 80 percent of their established course handicap. Players will also pick a PGA professional playing in the US Open golf tournament when they check in for the tournament that morning. The player’s NET score will be combined with “their” pro’s Sunday round score to create a combined team score.

The golf course will also be hosting a watch party for the duration of the Sunday round of the US Open and will include all you can eat chicken wings and beverages. The winner will be announced at the conclusion of the US Open on the PGA Tour. For more information conact the golf program manager at 961-3250.

SPORTS DAYS

MWR is hosting Sports Days June 19 and 20.

Register at the E-Street Gym now through the morning of June 19.

Events include: 4x4 indoor volleyball, doubles racquetball, ping pong, wally ball, flag football, dodgeball, soccer goal challenge, bowling, golf, homerun derby, 3-point contest, tug-of-war, 3-on-3 basketball and fitness challenges.

DIVE-IN MOVIE

There will be a free showing of “The Little Mermaid” at the Bayside Pool on June 14 beginning at 8:30 p.m.

The pool opens at 7:30 p.m. Popcorn is free and hot dogs, sodas and chips will be available for purchase.

BAYSIDE POOL SUMMER HOURS

The Bayside pool is open for business.

Hours are as follows:

Mon. - closed

Tues. - Sun. (including holidays): 1- 6 p.m.

Admission is free for all active duty, military retirees and their immediate familiy dependents. Admission for DoD civilians and immediate family dependents is $2. All other guests are $3.

OMPF SUBMISSIONS

Officers can now submit their official photographs to their Official Military Personnel File (OMPF) by uploading their photo through MyNavy Portal (MNP).

Navigate to https://my.navy.mil, go to “MyRecord,” “Other Record Sites of Interest,” and there the “Officer Photograph” tile can be found. When clicked, an electronic Officer Photograph form (NAVPERS Form 1070/884) opens and photos can be uploaded directly into the form and then submitted to the OMPF.

This new capability will require members to use their DOD ID rather than their Social Security Number.

GI BILL TRANSFERABILITY

Effective July 12, any Sailor who has more than 16 years of total service will no longer be eligible to transfer education benefits to their dependents, unless they are a Purple Heart recipient. Take action now to avoid losing this opportunity.

All Sailors who are or will be eligible to transfer their Post-9/11 GI Bill education benefits should discuss their options with their command career counselor.

JACK AND THE BEANSTALK

A free performance of Jack and the Beanstalk will be held at the Catalina Club on Monday, July 17 at 2 p.m.

The play will be performed by The Magik Theater and is suitable for all ages.
