NASCC personnel recognized

Congratulations to the following NAS Corpus Christi personnel who were recently recognized for their achievements:

MA2 Bryan Watson was awarded a Navy Achievement Medal for his service as watch commander, Security Department, NAS Corpus Christi, from July 015 to July 2018. Watson supervised 15 naval security force personnel, four DoD police officers, 38 auxiliary security force embers, 11 Army and four Air Force military police officers.

AC1 Patrick Kiger was awarded the Navy Commendation Medal for his service as tower chief and facility watch supervisor, NAS Corpus Christi from October 2014 to August 2018. Kiger expertly led 54 controllers in the completion of 693,524 mishap-free flight operations at the Navy’s premier pilot training complex. He also inspired his Sailors to reach their full potential and directly contributed to 740 facility qualifications being earned.

ACAN Maria Ibarra was selected as Blue Jacket of the Quarter, third quarter 2018.

AC2 David Fitzgerald was selected as Junior Sailor of the Quarter, third quarter 2018.

AC1 Joshua Ottwell was selected as Senior Sailor of the Quarter, third quarter 2018.

Wallace Bell, of the Security Department, was selected as Civilian of the Quarter, third quarter 2018.

Maurice Alcorn, of Admin Department, was selected as Senior Civilian of the Quarter, third quarter 2018.

Several firefighters were also promoted: Shaun Lemon was promoted to Station Chief; Daniel Smith was promoted to Captain; and Gherardo Diaz was promoted to Captain.

Energy awards announced

Bravo Zulu to Team Whiting Field for winning the Fiscal Year 2018 Secretary of the Navy Energy Award for excellence in energy conservation in the Navy Small Shore Category.

Additional teams for being recognized in other levels of energy excellence include: Platinum Level: An outstanding energy program. NAS Pensacola and NCBC Gulfport earned platinum level recognition. Gold Level: Gold level of achievement indicates an excellent energy conservation program. The following commands demonstrated gold level of achievement: NAS Corpus Christi, NAS Jacksonville, NSA Mid South and NAS Meridian. Blue Level: Blue level of achievement indicates a well-rounded energy conservation program. The following commands demonstrated blue level of achievement: NAS JRB Fort Worth, NSA Orlando, NS Mayport, NAS JRB New Orleans, NSA Panama City, and NSB Kings Bay.
