I hear you loud and clear!

In my last article, I addressed your wait time at our pharmacy and I pledged to do everything possible to speed up delivery of your prescriptions. We are committed to that goal.

Today I would like to tell you about the annual Navy Pharmacy Advisory Board in Bremerton, Washington, held April 23-27.

I am very proud of our Pharmacy department head, Lt. Garret Hand, Pharm.D., BCPS, and one of our pharmacy technicians, HM3 Kelly Bartin. They were both competitively selected to serve on the NPAB. There are only 19 members Navywide. Furthermore, HM3 Bartin is one of two enlisted Sailors that comprise that team.

So we have very good representation, not to mention the experience they both bring to the table.

The benefit to you, the patient, is that we have direct input into the future of Navy Pharmacy. Whatever the NPAB develops, we are able to be at the forefront and help guide the decisions that will shape their future goals.

By being at the ground floor, we are in a better position to incorporate Pharmacy best practices here for you in a timely manner.

And one of those best practices is the patient experience. It’s not just about you having a safe experience, but also having a clinically correct experience, as well as something that is of benefit to you on a personal level.

Patient safety is paramount!

By improving the knowledge of our staff to serve you better, you will benefit through increased experience, knowledge, and great service.

Another benefit regarding Lt. Hand’s trip to Bremerton will be the extra three days he will stay working on the Military Health System (MHS) Genesis Electronic Health Record. That’s important to you because Genesis is expected to be much more efficient, and you will be hearing more about that later.

Overall, the NPAB is a very active board with a lot of demands. It’s something that we are involved in to make a difference, and to make sure that the things we see here, whether it’s input from our technicians or our pharmacists, at the deck plate, that those changes can be implemented to improve your Pharmacy experience.

Pharmacy goals mean better service
