Have you met? ....

Of course you have met Maurice Alcorn. He is not the newest member to the Navy team, or even the Naval Air Station Corpus Christi team. But he is the newest member to the NASCC command staff, recently checking on board as the Security Manager. In his job, Alcorn processes fingerprints and does background checks on individuals to ensure that they meet the security requirements for the position they are being hired for. He also ensures that handling and storing procedures for classified information is managed correctly. “At the end of the day, I am protecting and safeguarding government assets,” Alcorn said. Alcorn held a variety of jobs during his 24 year military career – signalman, quartermaster and master-at-arms. And, he has travelled to a lot of places, seen a lot of things. He is a native of Newport, Arkansas, but says he has spent more time overseas and in Texas, and being an Army “brat,” he says he has never looked back. Alcorn retired from the Navy at NASCC as a chief petty officer master-at-arms in April 2015. He was hired by Morale, Welfare and Recreation as the bowling center manager in July 2015, where he served until he came to the command staff. Alcorn’s favorite food is catfish and his favorite thing to do when he’s not at work is play chess. He also enjoys fishing and doing yard work. One thing people don’t know about him is that he is shy. “I’m a simple guy, just providing for my family,” he said. Alcorn and his wife Kaoru have three children. What he loves most about his job is that he gets to meet people. “It is a challenge and there is always something new.”
