RECREATION CENTERS DEDICATED

The United States Naval Air Station was honored Friday and Saturday with the presence of Willie Hoppe, greatest billiard player of all times, Ned Day, National Match Game Bowling Champion, and Buddy Bomar, Texas Match Game Bowling Champion. These three champions gave exhibitions both Friday and Saturday in the enlisted Men’s Cadets’ and outlying field Bowling Alleys and Billiard Rooms, as part of the dedication ceremonies of these new recreation centers.

Hoppe came from New York via Chicago; Day, whose home is in Milwaukee, came from Hollywood, California, where he owns a bowling establishment in partnership with Harold Lloyd, movie star, and Hank Marion, who is another ten pin great; and Bomar came from Dallas, Texas to compete with Day in match play. All three men are truly champions, and their exhibitions at the different halls gave proof of the fact.

Every performance was well attended, and each exhibition was looked on with amazement. Difficult shots were made, and each man had beautiful form on every shot made. All who profess themselves amateur bowlers or billiard players were delighted with each new feat. The presence of these three men added prestige to the dedication of the new centers as no other one thing could have done.
