Pharmacy drop box improves patient services at NHCCC

Naval Health Clinic Corpus Christi Pharmacy has improved patient services with the introduction of a prescription drop box.

The box is located across from the pharmacy waiting area, next to Public Health Services, and makes the process of getting a new prescription filled easier and faster for patients who are able to return at a later time.

In a hurry? Fill out the pharmacy drop-off envelope and place it in the box, and your prescription will be available by noon the following business day.

“The box is increasingly getting known,” said HM2 Manuel A. Jacob, a pharmacy technician from Beaumont, Texas.

“We come out here regularly to promote it and patients ask, ‘Why hasn’t it been advertised?”

Each day the pharmacy processes 450 to 700 new prescriptions and completes 120 to 500 refills, as part of over 400 patient encounters daily.

The integration of the drop box helps provide more time for pharmacists and pharmacy staff to administer patient care.

“The drop box is a convenient option for non-emergent prescriptions that patients can pick up next day or later,” said Lt. Cmdr. Garret Hand, NHC Corpus Christi Pharmacy department head.

“Use of the drop box reduces wait times for patients with acute prescriptions and allows staff additional time to assist with patient counseling, questions, and prescription transfers. This allows the staff to prioritize and control their workflow to help increase patient safety, a top priority at NHC Corpus Christi.”

The pharmacy is committed to caring for military active duty, retirees and their family members.

When filling out the data collection form you can list your phone number so the pharmacy may contact you in case there are any prescription or supply concerns.

NHC Corpus Christi and its Naval Branch Health Clinic (NBHC) Fort Worth and NBHC Kingsville provide ambulatory care services to over 13,000 enrolled beneficiaries comprised of military active duty, retirees and their family members in South Texas and Dallas/Fort Worth.
