Favorite Exercise & food: Barbell bench press; Pie and mash (East London specialty). Favorite motivational saying: “It’s so easy! All you have to do is keep going” - Unknown What inspired you to start exercising? Sports. It’s a byproduct. How has being consistent with your fitness benefited you? It establishes the baseline for my daily and weekly routines. I have increased energy and get an awesome 7-8 hours of sleep. What do your family or friends think of your fitness habits? They have enjoyed seeing me grow up in shape- changing from when I was bulking to when I got a slimmer look. I enjoy being the “in shape” grandchild/cousin/brother/uncle. What challenges have you overcome to maintain your fitness? My work and social activities always detract from my time management. Food and alcohol -the easiest ways to lose your gains. What advice would you give someone who is just starting their fitness journey? Keep it simple and set an easy goal. Remember the 80/20 principle. 80 percent of your gains come from 20 percent of your workout. Vice versa – 80 percent of your failure comes from 20 percent of your choices. Hold yourself accountable. If your goal is a mile a day and you took a vacation, feel uncomfortable knowing you are in the negative.
