BHM Celebration
Sailors and staff from Naval Air Station Corpus Christi and Navy Medicine Readiness and Training Command Corpus Christi held a celebration to honor Black History Month in the crew’s lounge of Naval Health Clinic Corpus Christi Feb. 11. This year’s celebration included actors portraying significant moments in African American history as well as remarks from NMRTC-Corpus Christi Executive Officer, Capt. David Thomas.
Black History Month is celebrated every February to honor the contributions of African Americans to our nation. The theme for this year’s celebration is “Honoring the Past, Securing the Future!” The Department of Defense is commemorating the 75th Anniversary of World War II by recognizing the contributions and sacrifices made by service members as well as those who served on the home front. During the anniversary, we pay tribute to those Americans who undauntedly and courageously contributed to the defense of our nation. (U.S. Navy photo by Dale Davis)
