African-American History Month

The base Diversity Committee held an African-American History Month celebration at Naval Health Clinic Corpus Christi (NHCCC), Feb 12.

The guest speaker for the event was Lt. Cmdr. Trey Souder, Naval Air Station Corpus Christi (NASCC) admin officer.

Additional remarks were provided by NHCCC Commanding Officer, Capt. Miguel Cubano, and NASCC Commanding Officer, Capt. Philip Brock.

The 2019 theme is ‘Black Migrations,’ which emphasizes the movement of people of African descent to new destinations and subsequently to new social realities in the United States. This massive demographic shift remade our nation in ways that are still being felt today—culturally, politically, and socially.
