NEX grand reopening is June 20
The Navy Exchange Corpus Christi will be celebrating the completion of their 18-month Main Store renovation project with a ribbon cutting ceremony on June 20.
The ceremony will take place in front of the Main Store at 10 a.m. and highlight the changes completed in the first update of the store in nearly 20 years.
In addition to the traditional ribbon and cake cutting, the store will be hosting food and beverage tasting, as well as product demonstrations and give aways.
The project Main Store renovation follows the 2015 opening of five Micro-Markets located throughout the Corpus Christi Army Depot, the renovation of the Gas Station Mini-Mart in 2016, and the opening of Panda Express in 2017.
The Main Store’s renovation project replaced all of the store’s fixtures, including those in the jewelry, cosmetics and handbags departments, and added a “TV wall.”
Product assortment adjustments include the relocating of furniture and major appliances from the old warehouse located in Building 1218; the introduction of the “Below Deck” off-price merchandise program; as well as a complete resizing of all departments based upon sales history.
The Navy Exchange Mid-South District Facilities Team completed the renovation with the support of NASCC Public Works and numerous contractors. These teams cooperated to knock down concrete walls, convert back room space to retailing selling space, update the fire suppression system, and update the store administration space.
