Lab tech awarded

HM2 Landen Brown receives the Navy Achievement Medal, and the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal from Capt. David Thomas, executive officer, at morning colors July 5. While serving as assistant leading petty officer, NHCCC Laboratory Department, from April 2015 to July 2018, Brown supervised six personnel in processing 460,000 laboratory tests with 99 percent accuracy, facilitating successful College of American Pathologists Reaccreditations in 2015 and 2017. As a volunteer firefighter, Brown dedicated 762 off-duty hours providing exceptional support to the Nueces County Emergency Service District Two, resulting in increased capability for responding to emergencies in the county. He also assisted at the Children’s Shelter in San Antonio; and extended his leadership and experience to the local area’s Naval Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps. (Photo by Bill W.
