Happy 107th birthday Navy dentists!

Staff at Naval Health Clinic Corpus Christi Wednesday commemorated the 107th birthday of the U.S. Navy’s Dental Corps, Aug. 28.

Established Aug. 22, 1912, the Navy’s Dental Corps of today continues the longstanding tradition of support to the Fleet, ensuring mission readiness for Sailors and Marines worldwide.

Service members must be ready at a moment’s notice to deploy for long periods of time, and untreated dental issues can often lead to pain, infection and eventual degradation of individual readiness which impacts overall unit effectiveness.

Serving at sea and ashore in peace and in war, the Navy’s Dental Corps has been vital to the combat readiness of America’s fighting forces. (U.S. Navy photo by Dale Davis)
