Favorite motivational saying: “For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord. Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” -- Jeremiah 29:11

What inspired you to start exercising? In the third grade I did wind sprints and could outrun everyone. That motivated me to keep running. That also led me to run track through my school years and that got me a scholarship to University of Texas-Austin.

How has being consistent with your fitness benefited you? It keeps me healthy and it has helped me not to smoke or drink.

What do your family or friends think of your fitness habits? My wife comes because I do. Grandkids come when we brings them. Grandkids are also runners and very athletic because they grew up seeing me do it.

What are the challenges you have overcome to maintain your fitness? The older you get the more injuries you get. Challenge is eating right and at the right time.

What advice would you give someone who is just starting their fitness journey? Don’t go too fast! Start easy and go forward!
