Combat Challange Training
Several service members assigned to Naval Air Station Corpus Christi participated in a Combat Challenge Training, Sept 28.
The combat challenge training course was set up by NASCC Fire & Emergency Services and consisted of five stations where participants were required to complete tasks that simulated common firefighter duties while wearing a 25-pound weighted vest.
During the course, each individual carried a 25-pound plate to the top of the burn tower. At the top of the tower, participants then had to use a utility rope to haul up a 35-pound weight that was attached to it before heading back down the tower carrying a 25-pound plate.
Once at the bottom, participants used a sledgehammer to hit a tire 10 times with thier right hand and 10 times with their left hand, before proceeding to the tool-carry station.
The tool carry consisted of carrying approximately 100 pounds of firefighting tools for 50 feet. For the last station, participants dragged a 180-pound dummy for 50 feet. (photo courtesy of EMC Catherine Morales)
