Congratulations to the following NAS Corpus Christi personnel who were recently recognized for their achievements:

ABHC Joenique King was awarded the Navy Commendation Medal for her service as administrative leading chief petty officer, Air Operations Department, from April 2015 to April 2018. King managed administrative actions for 106 personnel across four divisions, ensuring seamless continuity of operations. As Command Drug and Alcohol Program coordinator, she was the driving force behind the command achieving 794 DUI-free and a 98 percent alcohol-related incident-free rating, the highest to date.

NC1 Elon McDuell received a Navy Commendation Medal. As NAS Corpus Christi’s Command Career Counselor from April 2015 to May 2018, McDuell expertly led eight personnel, six departmental career counselors and 40 career development team members in managing the career demand of 178 Sailors across three UICs and 10 tenant commands, earning three consecutive Retention Excellence Awards. Her efforts as command DAPA led to 365 days DUI-free for fiscal year 2016 and an impressive 98 percent ARI rating for FY17.

AC1 Andrew Wheeler, of Air Operations, was awarded the Navy Achievement Medal for service as leading petty officer and facility watch supervisor from January 2015 to June 2018. Wheeler led a 25-person watch team in successfully completing 670,000 mishap-free flight operations at NAS Corpus Christi. His ability to inspire Sailors to reach their full potential resulted in an unprecedented 85 percent advancement rate, 10 personal awards and 503 professional qualifications being earned.

ET2 James Chiasson was awarded a Navy Achievement Medal for his service as work center supervisor, Ground Electronics Maintenance Division aboard NAS Corpus Christi from July 2015 to July 2018. Chiasson directed the completion of 4,680 maintenance actions, led seven personnel through 10 certification flight checks, and aided in the qualification of three precision approach radar technicians. His expertise was vital in completing 20 system overhauls resulting in a cost savings of $151,254, culminating in his selection as the Commander, Navy Region Southeast Technician of the Year.

AC2 April Burbridge, of Air Operations, received a Navy Achievement Medal for her achievement as flight planning supervisor while assigned to the Operations Department, U.S. Naval Support Activity, Naples, Italy, from March 2016 to March 2018. Burbridge assisted flight crews and mission coordinators in successfully planning and executing 2,297 training and operational flights as well as 208 “VIP” movements. She also maintained an aeronautical library containing more than 80 charts and 50 publications.

Mae Capindo received a certificate in recognition of 20 years of government service.
