Captain’s Column
It has been an incredible tour!
I really don’t know how else to say it. As I look back over my time as commanding officer, it is not the nature of the challenges we have faced, but the team effort, support, and determination displayed by the men and women of Naval Air Station Corpus Christi, our tenants and the local community that will always stay with me.
NASCC and our tenants are extremely fortunate to have the support of the local community, and I know that partnership will only continue to grow!
The city of Corpus Christi is one of the most patriotic places I’ve ever been stationed. Thank you for all that you do.
Throughout my Navy career, I have been extremely fortunate to serve with outstanding and dedicated personnel.
The men and women of the base are driven, committed to giving 110 percent, and always having a positive attitude. Even when resources are limited, they get the job done, and support each other the best they can.
Their commitment to providing the best customer service to our tenants has been exceptional.
As our two major tenants directly contribute to National Defense by refurbishing and upgrading helicopters, and producing Naval aviators, everyone one of the base personnel is crucial to me to get the job done.
I could not run the command without their dedication and support. I am extremely proud of this command, and they should be too.
One of the best aspects of this job has been the multiple opportunities to get to know the military members, civilians, and families who live and work on the base. Everything from flying with VT-27 and the FITU, working out in the gym, participating in the many awesome MWR events (especially Breakfast with Santa and the tree lighting!), reading with the kids at the CDC, and being a part of the Security Drills, just to name a few, has been awesome.
I truly enjoyed my time, met some truly fantastic people and had a lot of fun.
Now the time has come for me to pass the responsibility of command on to my relief, Capt. Chris Jason, which will be a part of the change of command ceremony on July 31.
Having gotten to know Chris, I know the base is in good hands, and knowing the men and women of the base, I know that Chris and his family are in good hands.
I am extremely confident that the base will meet and exceed its goals, and continue to improve in all aspects.
I have really enjoyed my time here at NASCC, even Hurricane Harvey didn’t stop that!
Once again, thank you, and please continue to watch out for each other.
While I will no longer see you around the base, I’ll be thinking of you.
Go Pats!
Go Navy!
